NYSCTC Weekly Honors for Pitman, Sippie and Rivera
Three Empire 8 track and field athletes have been honored with weekly honors by the New York State Collegiate Track Conference (
NYSCTC).
Women's Field Athlete
Ithaca College sophomore Katherine Pitman won the Pole Vault at the Cornell Indoor Upstate Challenge, defeating a field of mostly Division I competition with her leap of 3.90 meters (12’9.5”), which currently leads NCAA Division III and improved upon her own Ithaca and NYSCTC Association records.
Men's Track Athlete
Nazareth College senior Tom Sippie won the 400 meters (:49.73) and anchored the winning 4x400 relay (3:25.73) at the Houghton Highlander Invitational. He currently has the 5th fastest 400 meter time in NCAA Division III, and the Nazareth 4x400 relay ranks #15 in the nation.
Men's Field Athlete
Nazareth senior Luis Rivera remained undefeated this season in the 35-lb. Weight Throw at the Houghton Highlander Invitational, winning his third meet of the 2015-2016 campaign and recording the top throw in NCAA Division III this season (18.84 meters/61’9.75”).
