Nazareth downs Hartwick in women's tennis, 6-3

MENDON, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth was victorious Saturday in its final regular-season women's tennis match as the Golden Flyers overcame Hartwick in Empire 8 Conference action, 6-3. The Golden Flyers improved to 6-3 overall, including 6-2 in conference play. Hartwick is 7-4 overall and 4-3 in the E8.
Sophomores
Allison Friends and
Marisa Joyce each won matches in singles and doubles as did freshman
Maelah Nadeau.
Nazareth won two of the three doubles matches with Friends and Joyce winning 8-3 at first doubles and Nadeau teaming with
Maeve Morgan for a win at third doubles.
Nadeau later won in a tiebreaker at fifth singles as she split sets with Hartewick's Caitie O'Brien, then took the tiebreaker 10-5. Friends, Joyce and sophomore Elizabeth Karsteadt each won their singles matches in straight sets.
Nazareth will compete in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament next weekend.
