Bombers in Fourth Place Following Opening Round of Middlebury Invite
MIDDLEBURY, V.T. – The Ithaca College golf team kicked off its final tournament of the fall on Saturday afternoon when it took on perhaps its most competitive field to-date at the Middlebury Invite. The Bombers performed strong across the board, currently sitting in fourth place heading into tomorrow's final round after shooting a 332 (+48). They trail the leaders, Williams College, by 17 strokes entering Sunday.
As has been the case for most of the fall, senior,
Kimberley Wong, paced Ithaca on Saturday. She carded one of her better rounds of the fall, posting a 78 (+7). Wong currently sits in a tie for third place, four shots off the pace set by Chloe Levins of Middlebury.
The IC senior went out in a one-over-par 36, which included six pars and a birdie. Unfortunately, she fell off that scintillating pace on the back nine, posting a 42 (+6).
Junior,
Indiana Jones, came in second among IC's entrants with an opening round 80 (+9). She posted 41 on both the front and back nines, finishing with six total pars and an excellent birdie on the par-five 16
th hole.
Freshman,
Peyton Greco, and junior,
Kyra Denish, rounded out Ithaca's scoring foursome, as both marked rounds of 86 (+15) on Saturday. Greco scored four pars and a birdie on the 16
th hole, marking 43's on both nines. Denish scored five total pars on her round, going out in 42 (+7) and coming in at 44 (+8).
Junior,
Lauren Saylor, was the fifth member of IC's squad. She finished with an opening round 92 (+21), she marked one par on her round. Senior,
Mary Rooker, also competed as an individual at the event, scoring an opening round 93 (+22). She also had one par on her round.
IC will conclude the fall tomorrow morning with final round action at the Middlebury Invite.
