Ithaca Concludes Fall Season With Fourth-Place Finish at Middlebury Invite

MIDDLEBURY, V.T. – The Ithaca College golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2016-17 slate on Sunday afternoon when it returned to the course for final-round action at the Middlebury Invitational. The Bombers maintained their fourth-place position in the team standings following the opening round; carding a 339 (+55) on Sunday to finish with a two-day total of 671 (+103).
 
Senior, Kimberley Wong, was Ithaca's top finisher at the tournament. She followed her opening-round 78 (+7) with an 83 (+12) in today's final round. Her two-round total of 161 (+19) put her in a tie for ninth-place at the ultra-competitive field.
 
Junior, Indiana Jones, posted the best round of the day for the Bombers on Sunday, carding an 81 (+10). Her two-day total of 163 (+21) placed her just outside the top-10 in a tie for 12th place, overall.
 
Classmate, Kyra Denish, joined Jones in improving on her opening round this afternoon. She shaved three strokes from her first round score to mark an 83 (+12) in today's final round. Her two-day score of 169 (+27) was good for a tie for 28th place.
 
Junior, Lauren Saylor, posted Ithaca's final counting score of the day. She followed her 92 (+21) from yesterday with another 92 (+21) today, coming in a tie for 50th. Freshman, Peyton Greco, fell off the pace from her opening round 86 (+15), turning in a round of 95 (+24) on Sunday. Despite the tough final round, Greco was able to edge her way into the top-50 with a tie for 45th place.
 
Golfing as an individual outside of IC's counting five-player team, senior, Mary Rooker, showed the most improvement from yesterday to today. She cut seven strokes from yesterday's round of 93 (+22), carding an 86 (+15) this afternoon. Her weekend total of 179 (+37) was good for a tie for 39th place.
 
Ithaca golf will begin its spring season in mid-March when it makes its spring break trip.
