Stevens Tops Naz in E8 Semi
HOUGHTON, N.Y. (October 14, 2016) – The second-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team advanced to its third consecutive Empire 8 Championship final Friday after topping third-seeded Nazareth, 5-0.
The win moved Stevens' record to 9-1, while Naz's season ends at 6-4.
Stevens opened the match with a commanding lead after a sweep at doubles, giving the Ducks their seventh 3-0 start of the season. Senior

Isabella Calandra won 8-3 at first for their seventh win of the season, while sophomores
Julia Earl and
Jill Hadwen won 8-1 at third.

Katrina Guido and sophomore
Sydney Zoretic captured the 8-2 victory at third, keeping their unbeaten season rolling at 8-0.
Guido and freshman
Nicole Badalyan combined to deliver the knockout blows at singles, with Guido winning 6-3, 6-3 at second and Badalyan taking home the 6-1, 6-4 victory at sixth.
Championship format dictates the match only be played to decision, although Stevens was up in two of the four remaining matches.
The Ducks will square off against top-seeded Ithaca in tomorrow's final at 10:30 a.m.
