Saxons, Cardinals and Pioneers Appear in National Polls
The Alfred University, St. John Fisher College and Utica College football teams are receiving recognition in the latest D3football.com poll and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) national Division III poll.
Alfred moved up six spots in the D3football.com national Top 25 poll and is now ranked 17th in the country, while Fisher and Utica are among teams receiving votes.
The Saxons moved up four places and is ranked 21
st in in this week's AFCA poll, while the Cardinals come in at No. 23 and the Pioneers are also receiving votes.

The Saxons improved to 6-0 on the year with a win over visiting SUNY Cortland last Saturday. At 4-0 in league play, the Saxons are now in sole possession of first place in the Empire 8 standings.
The Saxons' 6-0 start is the team's best since the 2009 squad started 7-0 before finishing an 8-1 regular season and falling in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Alfred returns to action Saturday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. at Empire 8 opponent Hartwick.
Utica knocked off previously undefeated and nationally-ranked St. John Fisher, 23-6, on Saturday at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The win marked the Pioneers third victory over a ranked opponent this season and it was also the first time Utica has defeated St. John Fisher in program-history.
Utica snapped a two game slide and improved to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in Empire 8 Conference play. Fisher's record moved to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the E8 this season.
Utica hits the road Saturday Oct. 22 when it travels to Buffalo State for an Empire 8 Conference matchup at 12 p.m. The contest will be televised across New York State on Time Warner Cable Sports.
Fisher will have a week off as the team enters its bye week. The Cardinals will return to action at 1 p.m. on October 29
