Scranton Finishes Third At AGA Collegiate Championships

MOOSIC, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's golf team held onto its third-place spot through the second and final round of the Anthracite Golf Association Collegiate Championships on Sunday at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
The Royals entered the day a shot behind second-place Rosemont and 10 behind first-place King's, but struggled to mount a charge in the cool, damp conditions on the par-71 layout. They finished the two-day event with a 661 total after a 341 on Sunday.
King's took the team title with a two-day total of 621, four shots ahead of Rosemont. Keystone's Race Sick took the individual title after shooting rounds of 77-72 – 149.
Sophomore Kyle Hayes (East Norwich, N.Y./Oyster Bay) finished tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard after shooting an 83 on Sunday to finish with a two-day total of 162. Junior Michael Boland (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer) matched Hayes' 83 as the team's lowest scores of the day. He finished with a two-day total of 165 to finish 13th.
Senior Tyler Huggins (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) finished Sunday with an 86 for a two-round total of 166 and a tie for 14th. Fellow senior Kevin Nardella (Spring Brook Township, Pa./North Pocono) rounded out the team's top four scores on Sunday with an 89. He finished the two days at 168 for a tie for 18th.
The Royals will wrap up their fall schedule on Thursday, Oct. 6, when they take on Wilkes and Misericordia at 1 p.m. at Huntsville Golf Club in Shavertown, Pa.
