Connor Wins Twice In Shutout Win For Stevens
HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 1, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team won its second-straight match in shutout fashion Saturday, 9-0 over St. John Fisher.
The win moved Stevens to 6-1 (5-1), while Fisher fell to 4-4 (3-4).
Sophomores
Julia Earl and
Jill Hadwen got the Ducks started with an 8-1 win at third, followed by senior
Alexis Connor and freshman
Isabella Calandra's 8-0 win at first. The win was the fifth of the season for the veteran/rookie duo.
Junior
Katrina Guido and freshman
Nicole Badalyan completed the sweep with an 8-2 win at second in the pair's first appearance of the season together.
The dominance continued for Stevens once singles began with Earl's 6-1, 6-0 win at sixth, followed by Connor's 6-1, 6-1 victory at first. Badalyan followed with a 7-5, 6-0 win at fifth, before Calandra overcame a first-set loss to take the victory at third.
Senior
Jillian Morneau stayed unbeaten at singles with a 6-4, 7-5 win at fourth, and Guido won 7-6, 6-2 at second to complete the sweep.
The Ducks will be back in action tomorrow when they host Hartwick in a crucial E8 matchup in Hoboken.
