Utica Takes Home First Place

Clinton, NY – The women's cross-country team travelled to participate at the Hamilton College Tune-Up Invitational today. The team finished in first place overall.
 
The Pioneers had five runners finish in the top 20 out of a total of 66 runners in the field. Sophomore Kaitlyn Stinson (South Kortright, NY/South Kortright Central School) continued her strong season as she finished in first place out of everyone in today's race. She recorded a time of 16:06.7 in the 4k. Right behind Stinson was teammate Makenna Cooley (Remsen, NY/Remsen), finishing in second place with a time of 16:13.6.
 
The other three runners that finished in the top 20 were Renee Lewis (Utica, NY/Notre Dame), Breanna Featherson (Waverly, NY/Waverly ), and Abby Schaible (). Lewis joined Stinson and Cooley as a top five finisher, as she came in fifth place in the race. Her time was recorded at 16:29 for the day. Freshman Breanna Featherson (Waverly, NY/Waverly ) finished in 13th place with a time of 16:59.7. Schaible ran a time of 17:20.4, which was good for a 19th place finish.
 
The women's cross-country team will be at it again on October 29th. On that day the Pioneers will be competing in the Empire 8 Championships. The women are scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
