Football Offensive Player – Alfred
Maleke Fuentes, Junior, RB – Olean, NY/Olean
Junior Maleke Fuentes carried the ball 21 times for a career-high 217 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Saxons’ 61-12 victory at Hartwick. He averaged 10.3 yards per carry and his 217 yards ranks seventh all-time at AU on the school's single-game rushing list.
Football Defensive Player – Cortland
Carson Lassiter, Senior, Safety – Madison, NJ/Madison
Carson Lassiter led the Red Dragon defense with a career high 17 tackles, one interception and broke up a pass against Brockport.
Football Special Teams Player – Ithaca
Jordan Schemm, Junior, CB/RET – Coral Springs, FL/North Broward Prep
Junior Jordan Schemm returned a 60-year punt return for a touchdown in Ithaca's 34-0 shutout of Morrisville. It is the longest punt return in Schemm's career and the first taken back for a touchdown by an Ithaca player since 2013.
Field Hockey Offensive Player – St. John Fisher
Emily Markarian, Junior, Forward – Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park
Emily Markarian totaled eight points as Fisher went 2-0 on the week, extending their historic win streak to 13, and clinching the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Emily Markarian had two goals and one assist in 5-0 shutout of Keuka. She marked a three-point effort in the win over Houghton on Saturday, assisting on a goal and scoring a tally of her own. It was the fourth time this season that Markarian has collected at least one goal and one assist in the same game.
Field Hockey Defensive Player – Utica
Samantha Whitehouse, Junior, Goalie – Greenwich, NY/Greenwich
Junior Samantha Whitehouse gave up just one goal in a 1-1 week for Utica. On Thursday, she made six saves in a 1-0 loss to Geneseo. She followed that up with a four-save shutout, her third of the year, as the Pioneers topped Elmira 3-0 on Saturday.
Men’s Soccer Offensive Player – Houghton
Andrew Bussey, Sophomore, Midfield – Leicester, England/Rosslyn Academy
Andrew Bussey helped Houghton to a 1-0-1 as the Highlanders extended its unbeaten streak to nine games. Bussey recorded one goal and three assists in a 7-2 victory over Alfred State on Wednesday. The sophomore then took four shots including two on goal in Houghton’s 1-1 tie against Ithaca.
Men’s Soccer Defensive Player – Elmira
Jordan Hodlofski, Senior, Goalie – Troy, PA/Troy
Jordan Hodlofski had a solid week in net for the Soaring Eagles, producing 12 saves in two matches. Hodlofski made four saves in a 1-0 loss to Medaille on Tuesday. Saturday he stopped a career-high eight shots in a 0-0 double-overtime draw against Nazareth, with three of those saves coming in the two 10-minute overtime periods.
Women’s Soccer Offensive Player – Ithaca
Jocelyn Ravesi, Senior, Forward – Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley
Jocelyn Ravesi of the Ithaca College women's soccer team guided the Bombers to a pair of conference wins last week as the Bombers defeated both Elmira and St. John Fisher to earned a berth into the Empire 8 championship. Against Elmira, Ravesi tied a program record after scoring four goals in an 8-1 win. The senior forward would bounce back to take four shots including three on goal in Ithaca's 2-0 win over St. John Fisher on Saturday.
Women’s’ Soccer Defensive – Nazareth
Brayden Dobles, Senior, Goalie – Spencerport, NY/Spencerport
Brayden Dobles extended her string of consecutive scoreless minutes to 747 after posting two shutouts in a 2-0 week for Nazareth. Dobles made one save in a 2-0 blanking of St. John Fisher on Tuesday. She had 11 saves in a 1-0 win over No. 16 Carnegie Mellon on Saturday. Dobles has 10 shutouts on the year and now holds the Nazareth career record with 25 total shutouts.
Men’s Cross Country Runner – Utica
Erik Winberg, Senior – Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy
Senior Erik Winberg placed second overall with a time of 16:29.5 at the Hamilton College Tune-Up (5K) Saturday. Winberg helped the Pioneers to a second place finish in the team competition. He now has back to back top 10 finishes for the Pioneers.
Women’s Cross Country Runner – Utica
Kaitlyn Stinson, Sophomore – South Kortright, NY/South Kortright
Sophomore Kaitlyn Stinson continued her strong season as she finished in first place Saturday at the Hamilton College Tune-Up (4K). She recorded a time of 16:06.7 and a mile pace of 6:29 to help lead the Pioneers to a first place finish at the six team meet. Stinson now has three top six finishes this season.
Women’s Volleyball Player – Ithaca
Joelle Goldstein, Junior, OH – Kings Park, NY/Kings Park
Joelle Goldstein had a huge week in helping Ithaca to a 3-0 record, in the process securing the second seed at the upcoming Empire 8 Tournament. She opened the week with a double-double effort with 14 kills and 11 digs in a five-set thriller against SUNY Oneonta. In the process, Goldstein surpassed the 1,000 career-kill milestone. Goldstein continued her strong play in Saturday's final Empire 8 crossover of the season. She picked up 12 kills and seven digs in IC's three-set win over Utica, while she notched her second double-double of the week with 13 kills and 12 digs against Houghton.
Women’s Volleyball Rookie – Stevens
Sara Hain, Freshman, MB – Roseville, MN/Roseville Area
Freshman Sara Hain had 23 kills (.367) and nine blocks as Stevens went 3-1 on the week. She had seven kills on 13 attempts and two errors (.385) with five blocks in a sweep of NYU. She had four kills and three blocks in a loss to Susquehanna. She had seven kills on 13 attempts with an error (.462) in a sweep of Alfred and she closed out the week with five kills on 11 attempts with one error (.364) in a three set win over St. John Fisher.
Men’s Swimming & Diving Athlete – Hartwick
Brendan Quinn, Senior – Raleigh, NC/Heritage
Senior Brendan Quinn led Hartwick to three win in a quad-meet against Utica, St. Rose and Cazenovia. Quinn gathered three first-place individual wins including the 200-yard butterfly (2:00.94), 500-yard freestyle (4:53.28), and 1000-yard freestyle (9:59.17). He was also a part of the 400-yard freestyle relay which was victorious in a time of 3:21.43 as he swam a split of 49.69. The ’Wick men also placed first as a team against all four opponents. The men topped Utica 236-51, beat St. Rose 188-99 and defeated Cazenovia 242-16.
Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete – Ithaca
Grace Ayer, Senior – Delmar, NY/Bethlehem
Grace Ayer helped the Bombers earn two wins over the week after defeating SUNY Fredonia and The College at Brockport in a tri-meet. Ayer began the meet by helping the Bombers to a win in the 200 medley relay with a winning time of 1:52.99. The senior would go on to claim three more first-place finishes after winning the 200 free (2:00.09), the 100 breaststroke (1:08.36) and the 100 IM (1:00.98).
