ECAC Weekly Honors for Markarian, Dobles and Goldstein

The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias Players of the Week for the week of play ending Oct. 23 and three Empire 8 student-athletes have been recognized.
 
Field Hockey – North
Offensive Player of the Week
Emily Markarian – St. John Fisher College, Jr., F

 
Markarian totaled eight points as Fisher went 2-0 on the week, extending its historic win streak to 13, and clinching the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Markarian had two goals and one assist in 5-0 shutout of Keuka. She marked a three-point effort in the win over Houghton on Saturday, assisting on a goal and scoring a tally of her own. It was the fourth time this season that Markarian has collected at least one goal and one assist in the same game.
 
Women’s Soccer – North
Defensive Player of the Week
Brayden Dobles – Nazareth College, Sr., GK

 
Dobles extended her string of consecutive scoreless minutes to 747 after posting two shutouts in a 2-0 week for Nazareth. Dobles made one save in a 2-0 blanking of St. John Fisher on Tuesday. She had 11 saves in a 1-0 win over No. 16 Carnegie Mellon on Saturday. Dobles has 10 shutouts on the year and now holds the Nazareth career record with 25 total shutouts.
 
Women’s Volleyball – North
Offensive Player of the Week
Joelle Goldstein – Ithaca College, Jr., OH

 
Goldstein had a huge week in helping Ithaca to a 3-0 record, in the process securing the second seed at the upcoming Empire 8 Tournament. She opened the week with a double-double effort with 14 kills and 11 digs in a five-set thriller against SUNY Oneonta. In the process, Goldstein surpassed the 1,000 career-kill milestone. Goldstein continued her strong play in Saturday's final Empire 8 crossover of the season. She picked up 12 kills and seven digs in IC's three-set win over Utica, while she notched her second double-double of the week with 13 kills and 12 digs against Houghton.
