HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 26, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team scored a school-record 16 goals Wednesday night in a 16-1 win over Berkeley in Hoboken.

The win moved Stevens to 10-5-1, while Berkeley fell to 5-11-1. Stevens' previous record for goals in a game was 13 set in 2005.

Sophomore Daniel Aversano and sophomore Chris Cesario each recorded hat-tricks, while sophomores Jacob Ulasevich and Danny Nasti each scored twice. Stevens' offense also got goals from senior Jay Mikula, senior Patrick Masur, sophomore Jimmy Doran, senior Nick DeFelice, junior Matt Perkins, and sophomore David Valian.

The Ducks out-shot Berkeley by a whopping 42-1 margin, 24 of which went on goal.

Masur put the Ducks ahead less than two minutes in with a goal from Mikula's cross, before Aversano made it 2-0 three minutes later with an unassisted goal into the top-left corner.

Mikula got one of his own in the 23rd off a feed from Aversano, followed by Ulasevich's first career goal in the 31st to put Stevens up 4-0. Berkeley snuck one in in the closing minutes of the half, but it's the only shot Stevens would allow as the Ducks took the comfortable lead into the break.

Aversano opened the second with his second of the night, followed by one from DeFelice three minutes later. Cesario followed with two goals of his own, putting the Ducks up 8-1 with just over 35 minutes to go.

Cesario and Aversano each completed their hat tricks soon after, before Doran got into the scoring in the 64th off a cross from junior Gerald Lamina. Stevens tacked five more onto the board over the remainder of regulation, sealing the record-setting win.
