Lander Earns Second Career CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

ALFRED, NY – Senior Richard Lander (Narrowsburg, NY/Sullivan West) of the Alfred University men's soccer team has earned his second CoSIDA Academic All-District III First Team honors as made official in an announcement on Thursday afternoon.
 
Lander, a mechanical engineering major, is the only member of the All-District III team from an Empire 8 school and brought with him a 3.94 GPA. The other midfielders who joined him on the team were Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Steven Collins and Union College's Andrew Fontaine.
 
In this season, Lander has recorded five goals in his 15 games and 14 starts. Three of his goals were game-winners against King's College (09.21.16), Utica College in Empire 8 action (09.23.16) and Fredonia (10.04.16).
 
His career totals to date are 69 games played with 68 starts, he has recorded 21 goals and assists for 63 points, he has shot the ball 271 times with 137 of them being on target, he has recorded six game-winning goals and is 5-for-7 in penalty kicks.
 
Lander and his fellow seniors will be honored this Saturday at 5:00 pm for Senior Day as the Saxons (7-7-2, 1-3-2 Empire 8) take on the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College in the season's final game.
