2016 E8 Field Hockey Tournament Set
St. John Fisher College will host the 2016 Empire 8 Field Hockey Tournament in the four-team format on Nov. 4-5.
The Cardinals earned the top seed with a perfect 8-0 record in conference play.
Hartwick College, Ithaca College, Stevens Institute of Technology and Washington & Jefferson were were all tied in the standings with a 5-3 conference mark so it came down to the league tiebreakers to determine seeding for the tournament. Hartwick College and Washington and Jefferson were 2-1 against tied teams, while Ithaca and Stevens were each 1-2 against the tied teams. Hartwick and W&J were advanced out of the tiebreaker to be compared against each other and since W&J beat Hartwick head to head in the regular season the Presidents were awarded the No. 2 seed and the Hawks were seeded third.
Stevens and Ithaca were left to be compared head to head and it was the Ducks who won the regular season game giving them the No. 4 seed and ultimately leaving Ithaca out of the postseason tournament.
