Feldman/Polk Edged In ITA Final
FINAL RESULTS
GENEVA, N.Y. (October 3, 2016) – Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis senior
Michael Feldman and junior
Danny Polk fell in a three-set thriller Monday in the doubles final of the ITA Northeast Regional.
The three-day event took place on the campus of Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y.
The doubles finals appearance was the first for Stevens since
Matthew Heinrich and
Ben Foran took home the title in 2014. Feldman/Polk had previously reached the quarterfinal together that same year.
The Stevens duo opened the match with a 6-4 loss in the first set, narrowly erasing a 5-1 hole to start. The second set went back and forth at the onset, before Feldman/Polk surged ahead from a 2-2 deadlock with four of the next five to win 6-3.
RPI's Zach Ebenfeld and Sebastin Sanchez once again grabbed the early advantage in the third 3-0, before turning a 4-2 lead into a 6-2 win with back-to-back points.
The matchup was already the second of the season between Feldman/Polk Ebenfeld/Sanchez as the two battled last weekend at the Stevens Fall Invitational, which the RPI team won 8-4.
The event wraps up the fall season for the Ducks.
