GENEVA, N.Y. (October 2, 2016)
– Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis senior Michael Feldman and junior Danny Polk advanced to the doubles final of the ITA Northeast Regional Sunday after a pair of wins.

The three-day event is taking place on the campus of Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y.

Feldman/Polk opened their day with a 9-7 win in the round of 16 against Alan Dubrovsky and Danny Kot of Hobart. The duo saved a trio of match points in the victory before taking the tiebreaker win. The pair followed that up with an 8-3 win in the semi in a match in which they held the lead for the remainder after going up 3-2.

Feldman/Polk will matchup with Rensselaer's Zack Ebenfeld and Sebastin Sanchez in tomorrow's final.

Juniors Kyle Henry and Kyle Cenderelli also advanced to the semi after an 8-5 win in the quarterfinal, but fell 8-6 to RPI's team of Ebenfeld/Sanchez in a back-and-forth battle.

Polk advanced to the quarterfinal at singles after a 6-1, 6-4 win over Hobart's Dubrovsky, before falling to Sanchez 6-1, 6-1.

Feldman/Polk will seek Stevens' second ever doubles championship in the final tomorrow.

Ithaca's Minos Stavrakas began the day in singles action with a challenging Round of 16 matchup against Jack August from The College of New Jersey. August represented Stavrakas' toughest opponent to-date in the draw, as the TCNJ netter was seeded in the 9-to-16 grouping. IC's outstanding freshman scored the victory in two sets, winning the opener 6-2, and taking the second set 7-6 in a tiebreaker.

He moved on to the quarterfinal of the tournament where he faced number-one overall seed Kai Yuen Leung of Skidmore. Stavrakas battled tough against the Thoroughbreds' ace, but Leung ultimately proved to be too tall a task for the Bombers' talented freshman, winning 6-3, 6-0.

IC also had one group alive in the doubles draw, as Stavrakas joined sophomore, Michael Gardiner, back on the court during the afternoon session. Coming off a thrilling upset of fourth-seeded Mitchel Sanders and Matt Puig of TCNJ, the Bombers' tandem faced another tall task in eighth-seeded Zack Ebenfeld and Sebastian Castillo-Sanchez of RPI. The Engineers top duo bested IC's grouping 8-3 to bring Ithaca's run at the tournament to an end.
