XC Teams Compete at Mike Woods Invitational

LETCHWORTH STATE PARK – Four Empire 8 women's cross country teams competed Saturday at Letchworth State Park, as part of the Mike Woods Invitational.
The Golden Flyers top three women finished consecutively in 40th, 41st, and 42nd place over the 5-kilometer course. Freshman,
Megan Menz achieved a time of 23:55.7.
Claire Ludington crossed the finish line just one second later at 23:56.7.
Emily Thompson completed the race with a time of 23:57.0.
Alfred junior
Lindsay Piraino was Alfred's top runner, placing 67
th in 24:22.40. Junior
Emily MacWilliams was 118
th in 26:52.70 and senior
Tracy Johnston was 133
rd in 28:16.20.
Houghton's Ella Hotchkiss finished 133rd (25:12.1), followed by Rachel Hummel in 137th (25:17.3) and Shelby Langlois in 166th (25:52.4).
Elmira freshman standout
Caitlin Malanowski '20 and third-year runner
Hannah Lundgren '18 finished the scenic 6K course with the sixth- and seventh-best times in program history, respectively. The former was clocked at 27:03.30 in her first collegiate race at that distance and placed 209th out of 288. Lundgren now occupies eight of the all-time top-10 fastest 6Ks in program history after posting a time of 27:29.20, slotting one spot behind Malanowksi for seventh place.
