Regan Named USTFCCCA Region Athlete Of The Year
Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country senior
Amy Regan was named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year Tuesday, adding to her growing list of accomplishments from the 2016 season.
The honor is the second of Regan's career for cross country.
Regan took first this past weekend at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in 20:05.1, placing her 19 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. The performance helped elevate the Ducks to a fifth-place finish as a team, which keyed Stevens' first ever at-large bid to the national championship race this weekend.
Regan previously captured the fourth Empire 8 championship of her career, becoming the first athlete in conference history to do so.
Regan and the rest of the Ducks will make their historic appearance in the national championship race Saturday at 11 a.m. in Louisville.
