The 2016 Empire 8 Athletic Conference (E8) Men's Soccer Tournament will feature four teams battling for a chance to win the postseason conference championship and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The playoffs begin Friday, Nov. 4 with two semifinal matches and the Championship will take place on Saturday, Nov. 5 on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology.

Before the action begins, here are some quick facts you should know about the conference tournament. (

The Empire 8 will employ a four team tournament format for the 15
th straight year. Prior to the 2002 tournament, the E8 champion was determined based on the regular season finish.
Stevens has qualified for every tournament since joining the conference in 2007-08.
Ithaca has qualified for 12 tournaments - missing 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Houghton is participating in its second E8 postseason tournament.
St. John Fisher is making its eighth tournament appareance and first since 2012.
There have been co-champions three times (2003, 2005, 2012) which resulted in a PK shootout to determine the NCAA automatic qualifier.
There have been 16 overtime games throughout the history of the tournament.
The tournament has played out according to seeding three times - in 2010, 2013 and 2014.
The #1 seed is 11-3 in the semifinal game of the tournament. #2 seed (8-6), #3 seed (6-8), #4 seed (3-11).
The #1 seed has won or tied the conference championship seven times (2002, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014).
The #2 seed has won or tied the title four times (2005, 2008, 2009, 2015)
The #3 seed has won or tied the conference title three times (2004, 2006, 2012).
The #4 seed has won or tied the title three times (2004, 2005 and 2006).
2016 marks the seventh time Stevens will serve as the number one seed.
Stevens is 16-0-2 in E8 tournament games, including a 8-0-1 mark in the title game.
Ithaca owns a 5-6-5 E8 tournament record and has played in the championship game five times and has a 1-3-1 record. The Bombers won the title in 2002 and were co-champions in 2012.
Houghton is 0-1-0 in E8 tournament games.
The Cardinals are 2-5-2 in the E8 tournament all-time and has never won the championship title.
