The 2016 Empire 8 Athletic Conference (E8) Women's Soccer Tournament will feature four teams battling for a chance to win the postseason conference championship and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The playoffs begin Saturday, Nov. 5 with two semifinal matches and the Championship will take place on Sunday, Nov. 6 on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology.

Before the action begins, here are some quick facts you should know about the conference tournament. (

The Empire 8 will employ a four team tournament format for the 15
th straight year. Prior to the 2002 tournament, the E8 champion was determined based on the regular season finish.
Ithaca and Nazareth have qualified for the tournament every year.
Stevens has qualified for every tournament since joining the conference in 2007-08.
Hartwick is participating in its first E8 since 2002.
There have been co-champions six times (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2012 and 2014) and everytime it was Ithaca and Nazareth. The two teams then had to do a PK shootout to determine the NCAA automatic qualifier which Ithaca winning four times and Nazareth twice.
There have been 12 overtime games throughout the history of the tournament.
The #1 seed is 13-1 in the semifinal game of the tournament. #2 seed (10-4), #3 seed (4-10), #4 seed (1-13).
The #1 seed has won or tied the conference championship 12 times.
The #2 seed has tied the title five times but never won outright.
The #3 seed has won the title once and tied for the title once.
The #4 seed won the title once in 2006
2016 marks the third time Stevens will serve as the number one seed.
Stevens has played in the championship game three times and won all three (2010, 2011, 2015).
Nazareth had advanced to the championship game every year from 2002-2014 before missing the title game in 2015.
Nazareth is 12-7-8 in tournament games, including a 1-6-6 mark in the title game.
Ithaca is 13-4-8 in E8 tournament games, including a 4-1-6 mark in the title game.
This will be the third time Ithaca is the No. 3 seed.
Hartwick was also the No. 4 seed in 2002 and they fell to Ithaca 4-0 in its only postseason game.
Hartwick has never played Stevens and Nazareth in the tournament. The Ducks are 2-2-0 against Ithaca and 2-2-2 against Nazareth. Nazareth and Ithaca have played each other 13 times in the postseason with Ithaca leading 5-2-6.
