Quick Facts on E8 Women's Volleyball Tournament

The 2016 Empire 8 Athletic Conference (E8) Women's Volleyball Tournament will feature four teams battling for a chance to win the postseason conference championship and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The playoffs begin Saturday, Nov. 5 with two semifinal matches and the Championship will take place on Sunday, Nov. 6 on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology.

Before the action begins, here are some quick facts you should know about the conference tournament. (

The Empire 8 will employ a four team tournament format for the 14
th straight year. In 2002 the tournament involved eight teams and prior to 2002, the E8 champion was determined based on the regular season finish.
Ithaca and Nazareth have qualified for the tournament every year.
Stevens joined the conference in 2007-08 and has qualified for the tournament every year except in 2010.
Ithaca has only missed two tournaments (2008 and 2011).
Nazareth only missed the 2005 tournament.
Fisher is participating in the tournament for the seventh time.
There have been seven matches throughout the history of the tournament that have gone to five sets.
Stevens has won four championship titles (2007, 2008, 2009, 2014).
Ithaca has won fourth titles in the four-team tournament format (2004, 2005, 2010, 2015).
Nazareth has won five team titles in the four-team tournament format, including three straight from 2011-13. The Golden Flyers also won in 2003 and 2006.
Fisher has never won the team title in the tournament format.
Stevens has a 11-4 tournament record and a 4-3 mark in the championship match.
Ithaca is 11-8 in the E8 tournament and 4-1 in the title match.
Nazareth is 16-7 overall in the tournament with a 5-3 record in the championship match.
Fisher is 0-7 in the tournament.
