ECAC Division III Metro All-Star List
DANBURY, CT – Five student-athletes selected as an Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division Women's Volleyball All-Stars on Wednesday afternoon.
In the ECAC North, Joelle Goldstein of Ithaca College joined Amber Smith in the First Team selections whereas Nazareth's Cady Messmer earned Second Team. Stevens had Mary Tobin and Brianna Perez make First and Second Team, respectively in the ECAC Metro while head coach Glenn DeHaven was the Coach of the Year.
Goldstein enjoyed a fantastic year in helping Ithaca capture its second consecutive Empire 8 Title and second straight run to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She paced the Bombers with 341 kills and 48 service aces, while she finished second on the team with 326 digs. The Kings Park, N.Y., product also added 38.0 total blocks on seven solos and 31 block assists.
Smith led the Empire 8 in kills this season with 369 and 110 in Empire 8 Conference Play while finishing second in kills per set with 3.51. She had 155 more kills than King overall and 59 more in conference action while she averaged 0.69 and 0.44 more kills per set.
Messmer amassed 348 kills to lead Nazareth to a 22-10 record. The versatile outside hitter had 310 digs, 66 aces and 20 blocks.
Tobin led the Ducks this fall with 379 kills while hitting .222 for the season. The veteran also served as a force on defense with 376 digs, and was named First Team All-Empire 8 two weeks ago for the fourth season in-a-row.
Perez led the Ducks with 1,266 assists this season serving as one of the most important pieces of the Stevens attack. Perez led the E8 in both average assists per set and total assists as she was also named first team all-conference.
DeHaven guided the Ducks to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament and an overall record of 33-6.
