CoSIDA Release

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its Academic All-District Teams for women's volleyball on Thursday afternoon. The accolades continued to roll in for junior outside hitter, Joelle Goldstein, as she was named amongst the honorees for District 3.

The academic accolade piggy-backs on the news from earlier this week when Goldstein was named the Empire 8 Player of the Year in addition to being an All-Conference First-Team selection. The Kings Park, N.Y., native will now be eligible to be selected for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, which will be released at the end of November. The announcement marked the first time that Goldstein has garnered an academic award from CoSIDA during her career.

The third-year hitter has enjoyed a fine season in 2016, leading the team in kills (296) and service aces (43), while she sits second in digs (292). She also paces the squad among pin hitters in blocks, tallying seven solo stuffs and 29 block assists. Beyond her counting stats, Goldstein has been a key leader for an Ithaca outfit that has had to battle through some tough circumstances this season. She has marked 11 double-double efforts with 10-plus kills and 10-plus assists, while she also became a member of the Ithaca's 1,000-career kill club earlier this season.

Goldstein and the Bombers return to action this weekend when they travel to Hoboken, N.J., to defend their Empire 8 Conference title. IC is set to face third-seeded Nazareth in the semifinal round on Saturday, November 5, at 2:30 p.m.
