HOBOKEN, N.J. (November 5, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team held St. John Fisher to under 16 points in each of the first two sets Saturday in a 3-0 win in the Empire 8 Conference Championship semifinal.

The win moved Stevens to 30-4, while Fisher's season ended at 12-20.

Senior Mary Tobin led the way for the Ducks offensively with 12 kills, while senior Sydni Horner and senior Christina Sciarra combined for 28 digs.

As a team, Stevens hit .420 while holding Fisher to just .198.

Fisher kept it close in the early going of the first set, cutting the Stevens lead to just 8-7 15 points in. Stevens responded with three straight however, before turning a 15-11 lead into 19-11 keyed by a pair of aces from Sciarra. Fisher made a small run late in the set to make it 22-15, but the Ducks answered with three straight for the win.

Stevens opened the second on a 6-2 run, before opening up an 8-3 lead off a pair of kills from Sciarra. Fisher got to within four shortly after, but it's as close as they would get the rest of the set as the Ducks closed on a 12-7 run.

The Cardinals were once again able to keep it close in set three, playing to a 6-6 tie before eventually going up 10-9. Freshman Casey King righted the ship with a kill however to tie things up.

Fisher rallied to grab a three-point lead and pull within seven of the win, but nine straight from Stevens keyed by a pair of kills from freshman Shelby Stewart catapulted the Ducks back ahead for good.

The Ducks will look to capture the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament at tomorrow's final at noon.
