Fisher To Host Rhodes in NCAA Field Hockey

In just two days, Growney Stadium on the campus of St. John Fisher College will host NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship action for the first time. Fisher (18-2) will make its inaugural appearance in the national tournament on Wednesday, as the Cardinals will take on Rhodes College (15-2) in a first-round matchup.  Game time is 12:30 p.m.

The winner of Wednesday's game will advance to the Sweet 16 and will take on host Babson College on Saturday.

Rhodes, located in Memphis, received a Pool B NCAA bid after winning the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championship on Saturday.   This will be the second consecutive season the Lynx have advanced to the national tournament.

Fisher, winners of 17 straight games, won the Empire 8 Conference Championship on Saturday, Nov. 5 to earn the program's first appearance in NCAAs.  The top-seeded Cardinals defeated No. 2 Washington & Jefferson College 2-1 in the title game.  Junior Emily Markarian, who scored three of Fisher's four goals over the weekend, was named as the Championship's Most Outstanding Player.
