Alfred to host first two rounds of ECAC Division III men’s soccer tournament
ALFRED, NY — Alfred University has been chosen to host the first two rounds of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III men's soccer championship tournament this weekend, the ECAC announced Monday evening.
AU (8-7-2) was named one of the top four seeds in the four-region 16-team championship tournament, and will host four-team first-round and quarterfinal play in Region 4 on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12 and 13. The other top seeds hosting first-round and quarterfinal regional contests are Rutgers-Camden (Region 1), Lebanon Valley (Region 2) and Ramapo (Region 3).
In Saturday's first round action at Yunevich Stadium, Alfred takes on SUNY Cobleskill, the fourth seed in Region 4, at 5 p.m. Second-seeded Penn State-Altoona plays third-seeded Penn State-Harrisburg at 7:30 p.m. The winners of those games will play on Sunday at a time to be announced, with the winner of that game advancing to the tournament semifinal round.
The highest remaining seed after regional play is complete will host the two semifinal games (Saturday, Nov. 19) and championship game (Sunday, Nov. 20).
Complete first-round and quarterfinal games are scheduled as follows:
Region 1: No. 1 Rutgers-Camden vs. No. 4 Hunter College, 11 a.m. and No. 2 Drew vs. No. 3 NYU, 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12. Winners play at noon on Sunday, Nov. 13.
Region 2: No. 1 Lebanon Valley vs. No. 4 Cabrini, 11 a.m. and No. 2 Grove City vs. No. 3 Arcadia, 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12. Winners play at noon on Sunday, Nov. 13.
Region 3: No. 1 Ramapo vs. No. 4 Staten Island, 11 a.m. and No. 2 William Paterson vs. No. 3 Moravian at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12. Winners play at noon on Sunday, Nov. 13.
Region 4: No. 1 Alfred University vs. No. 4 SUNY Cobleskill, 5 p.m. and No. 2 Penn State-Altoona vs. No. 3 Penn State-Harrisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12. Winners play at a time to be announced on Sunday, Nov. 13.
Semifinal games will be played at the highest remaining seed on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., with the championship game being held Sunday, Nov. 20, at noon.
