2016 Women's Volleyball All-Tournament Team and MVP
Following the Empire 8 Women’s Volleyball Tournament and the naming of the Most Valuable Player, the entire 2016 All-tournament team has been announced.
Ithaca –Joelle Goldstein (MVP), Amanda Cerruti and Tara Stilwell
Stevens – Sydni Horner and Shelby Stewart
Nazareth – Kelsey Milligan
St. John Fisher – Anna Marcy
Goldstein was named the tournament’s most valuable player as she paced the offense in the championship match with 12 kills on 34 attempts for a .265 hitting percentage to go along with 15 digs and one block. In the semifinal she added seven kills, four digs, three aces and one block.
Cerruti totaled 12 kills and ten blocks in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament. Cerruti finished with five kills and six blocks in Ithaca's semifinal win over Nazareth, and followed with seven kills and four blocks in the championship over Stevens.
In the semifinal match,
Stilwell totaled 13 digs and four assists. In the championship match she finished with 19 digs and dished out six assists.
Horner collected 16 digs and one service ace in the semifinal match against Fisher to help propel Stevens to the E8 final for the fifth straight year. In the championship match she finished with 22 digs.
Stewart hit .600 in the semifinal with six kills on 10 attempts with no errors. She also added three blocks. In the title match, Stewart finished with seven kills on 14 attempts and two blocks.
Marcy posted a match-high 14 kills against just five hitting errors for a .257 percentage for the Cardinals in the semifinals against Stevens. She also had one service ace and six digs.
Milligan finished with eight kills on 17 attempts and four errors for a .235 hitting percentage in her second post-season match of her career. She also added one solo block.
