BALTIMORE, Md. – The Ithaca College men's lacrosse program posted one of the finest seasons in its history in 2016; rising all the way to No. 1 in United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches Poll during a 20-2 season, which included the Bombers second-ever appearance in the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament. While IC had numerous key contributors in its amazing 2016 season, keying the squad's defensive effort was 2016 senior goalkeeper Scott Sidnam. The since-graduated Bomber net-minder has recently been nominated for the 2016 year-end "Laxie" Award bestowed by respected lacrosse media outlet, Inside Lacrosse, for Division III Player of the Year.

For the following two weeks, lacrosse fans have the opportunity to get in the game and vote for their favorite players and moments of the 2016 season. The annual year-end Laxie Awards honor winners in various categories across all three NCAA Divisions, as well as high school and professional lacrosse. Ithaca's Sidnam is nominated for the Division III Player of the Year category. He is competing against Virginia Wesleyan attacker Josh Currier, Salisbury short-stick midfielder Preston Dabbs, Tufts attacker John Uppgren, and RIT midfielder Matthew Hossack.

Sidnam was the lone goalie to qualify for the award. The three-time Empire 8 Goalie of the Year, finished his career second all-time in program history for career saves with 710. He was named the 2016 Empire 8 Goalie of the Year after posting a 19-2 record in the cage. He allowed 126 goals and made 186 saves in 1,067 minutes, posting a .596 saves percentage and a 7.09 goals-against average. Sidnam also earned the second USILA All-America honor of his career, appearing on the First Team in addition to being named the Ensign C. Markland Kelly, Jr. Award as the Division III Most Outstanding Goalie of the Year.
