Five E8 Schools Ranked in Fall Directors' Cup Standings

Stevens Institute of Technology heads the list of five Empire 8 schools found in the final fall standings of the 2016-17 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup with 162 points. The Ducks are ranked 23rd after making national tournament apparences in women's soccer, women's volleyball and women's cross country.

Ithaca College sits in 44th place with 116 points courtesy of national apparences by women's volleyball and men's cross country.

St. John Fisher College is 68th with 78 points following a ninth place finish in field hockey and its first NCAA appearnance by men's soccer.

Alfred University's record breaking football season has the Saxons in 79th place.

Nazareth is the final E8 team with 50 points from women's soccer that ranks the Golden Flyers at 100.

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women's and nine men's. The first Division III winter standings will be released in mid-March.
