FULL RELEASE
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced on December 1, that 13 members of the Empire 8 women's soccer teams have been named All-Region.
FIRST TEAM
Michaela Soules (Nazareth) was the catalyst in the midfield for the Golden Flyers attack, generating a team-leading 11 assists, to go along with three goals for 17 points in 2016. The speedy senior tallied eight assists in 10 games from October 8-November 13. Soules scored Nazareth's first goal and assisted the game-winner in Nazareth's first round victory in the NCAA Division III Tournament over Wittenberg. For her career, Soules found the back of the net 15 times. Her 26 career assists ranks fifth all-time in the Nazareth record book.
Brayden Dobles (Nazareth) was named to the first team, after arguably the best goalkeeping season in Nazareth program history. The senior registered a .929 save percentage, the fourth-best in the country. The netminder registered 12 shutouts during the 15 win season for the Golden Flyers, pushing the career total to 27, the best mark in program history. The 12 shutouts tied the single season record for Nazareth, also put together by Erin Jacobs in 1996. During the season, Dobles went 1,021 minutes and 21 seconds without surrendering a goal, spanning from September 24 to November 5, helping Nazareth to a 10-game win streak. Dobles will graduate with the best goals against average in program history at .53 (30 goals allowed in 5062:53 minutes).
Raba Nassif (Stevens) led the Ducks, and the conference, in scoring with 23 goals. She recorded multi-goal games on seven occasions, including a pair of four-goal performances against conference opponents Utica (Oct. 15) and Elmira (Oct. 23). The talented forward led the team in goals (23), assists (15), points (61) and game-winners (5) and scored Stevens' first goal in the Empire 8 Conference Championship, helping the Ducks to their second straight crown.
Zisi Komar (Stevens) followed up her rookie of the year season with 16 goals in 21 games to finish second in the E8 in scoring behind Nassif. Komar also finished second on the team with 12 assists while finishing first with 58 shots on goal.
Julia Panko (Stevens) became the sixth Stevens freshman in the last seven seasons to earn E8 rookie of the year honors after bursting onto the scene with nine goals and nine assists.
Madison Miller (Hartwick) adds to her growing list of awards after earning Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year and E8 First Team accolades. Miller was a force for the Hawks both on the back line and on offense. She helped the Hawks to a goals against average of just 0.91 this season. She also registered six goals on the year with one assist. In games Miller scored in, Hartwick was 3-0-2. Hartwick capped 2016 with a record 10-5-3, the program's second straight 10-win season. The Hawks finished 4-2-2 in the Empire 8 to earn their first league playoff berth since 2002.
SECOND TEAM
Julia Delgatti (Nazareth) was an instant impact forward for head coach
Gail Mann, becoming the team's leading goal scorer with 14, including scoring eight game-winners. After not recording a point in the first four games of the season, Delgatti notched at least one point in 11 of the last 16 contests. The junior scored one goal in seven games straight and tallied 10 goals in 10 games from September 27 to October 29. Her 14 goals in the season rank her in a tie for eight all-time on the Nazareth list.
Aimee Chimera (Ithaca), who has now been named All-Region in each of the last three seasons, started all 18 games for the Bombers and anchored a defensive corps that surrendered just over one goal per game this season including nine shutouts overall. A three-time All-Conference selection and the 2015 Defensive Player of the Year in the Empire 8, Chimera has also proven to be a standout in the classroom as she was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team last month. In all, the Pipersville, Pa. native started all 80 games over the last four years and was named to the Empire 8 Championship's All-Tournament Team three times including this year.
Alexis Lamb (Houghton) anchored a Highlander defense that posted 11 shutouts and allowed only 1.2 goals per game.
Olivia Butera (Stevens) started all 21 games for Stevens on defense. Opponents recorded multi-goal games just four different times on Butera's defense.
THIRD TEAM
Erin Strollo (Nazareth) anchored the Golden Flyers defense, starting 20 games in 2016 to make the third team. The junior helped Nazareth's defense hold opponents to just eight goals on the season, a .38 goals per game average to rank first in program history – Nazareth allowed 11 goals in 2000, the next best feat for the program. In 21 games, Strollo and the Golden Flyers amassed 14 shutouts to set the Nazareth single season record. The previous record was 13 shutouts set in 1996.
Taylor Baranowsky (Ithaca), who has now been named All-Region twice in her career, posted career-highs this season in goals (five), assists (two), points (12) and shots (37). The senior midfielder ranked fourth on the team in scoring and started all 18 games this season. Her biggest moment came in the 95th minute of the Empire 8 Championship semifinal after heading in the game-winning goal to lift the Bombers to a 1-0 win over Nazareth and a spot in the title game. As a result, she was named to the All-Tournament Team. The Moorestown, N.J. native, who received an Honorable Mention All-Conference by the Empire 8 all four seasons, started 78 games for Ithaca since 2013 and concludes her career with 31 points on 12 goals and seven assists.
Fresh off her first career All-Conference selection, Jocelyn Ravesi had a breakout season as a senior. The Fulton native led the team and ranked third among all conference players in points, (33) and shots (71) while her 13 goals were fourth-most. Ravesi also tied for the team lead with seven assists on the year. The senior forward, who was named the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week on October 24, started every game this season and notched four game-winning goals in 952 minutes of action. Ravesi scored two goals or more in a game four times during the 2016 campaign including a four goal outburst against Elmira, which tied the program record for most goals scored in a single game. On three occasions, Ravesi was credited with five points or more. She concludes her time in an Ithaca uniform having played in 58 career games totaling 47 points overall.
