Six from Men's Soccer Named All-Region
FULL RELEASE
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced on December 1, that six members of the Empire 8 men's soccer teams have been named All-Region.
FIRST TEAM
Jesse Toth (Houghton) consistently showed that he is a premier defender not only within the conference but also on the national stage throughout his senior campaign. In addition to his all-region accolades, Toth was also selected as Houghton's first NSCAA-NCAA Division III Third-Team All-American as well as a NSCAA-NCAA Division III First-Team East Region player. He adds those distinctions to a cache of other awards already received this fall, including the highest of all NCCAA honors for men's soccer, the Kyle Rote, Jr. Award, and added his fourth consecutive First-Team All-Empire 8 Conference selection.
Patrick Masur (Stevens) served as offense force for Stevens out of the midfield this fall, setting career highs with six goals and 15 points. Masur started all 18 games where he put 17 of his 25 shots on goal for a shots on goal percentage of 68. Masur also tallied thee game winners to tie for the team lead, and served as a captain in his final season on Castle Point. The veteran was previously named First Team All-Empire 8 Conference.
SECOND TEAM
Michael Bryant (Elmira) led the Soaring Eagles in points for a second consecutive year, as the third-year striker logged 18 points on eight goals and two assists. His eight goals were tops in the E8 through the regular season and postseason tournament. Eight of his season's 18 points came against conference foes, including a six-point effort in a 6-1 win over Utica College on September 17th. Bryant also finished second on the league leaderboard in points per game (1.20).
Andrew Bussey (Houghton) is earning his first NCCAA All-Midwest Region Second-Team honor as a Highlander. Bussey was the team leader in goals with eight on the season, assists with nine, and points with 25. He also earned his second straight all-conference honor and first ever first team selection earlier this fall.
THIRD TEAM
Richard Lander (Alfred) Lander finished the season with seven goals for 14 points and had three game-winning goals against King's College, Utica College and Fredonia. He also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 First Team, Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC) North Offensive Player of the Week and Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week during the season as well. He finished the regular season with six goals for 12 points and had three game-winning goals against King's College, Utica College and Fredonia.
Landon Sheaffer (Houghton) finished as the team's second leading scorer with seven goals on the season and was third on the team in points, collecting 19 on the year. Earlier this fall Sheaffer earned his fourth consecutive all-conference honor and first ever first team selection.
