ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.) is taking the plunge into the icy waters of Cayuga Lake to benefit the Special Olympics of New York.
During the 3rd annual Ithaca Polar Plunge, held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, Ithaca College's student-athletes on the S.A.A.C. will take the plunge into the frigid water at Taughannock Falls State Park, to help area athletes accomplish their dreams of competing for gold medals in their sports.
All proceeds benefit local Special Olympians who have been training hard in preparation for upcoming local, regional, state, and national competitions against fellow Special Olympians across the country.
The Ithaca College S.A.A.C. organization has set a fundraising goal of $500 for this event. With a little more than one week remaining until the Feb. 19 deadline for donating, the student-athletes are halfway to their fundraising goal.
