WOMEN'S RESULTS

WINNECONNE, Wis. –
Sophomore Taryn Cordani placed 14th overall at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh was the host school for the championships

Fellow sophomore Denise Ibarra also ran this afternoon, as did Stevens Institute of Technology freshman Mary Visca. Ibarra finished 104th overall, while Visca took 121st.

Cordani ran a time of 21:36.30 on the 6K course which topped her previous time at Lake Breeze in mid-October by nearly 20 seconds. She trailed the 13th place runner by just one-tenth of a second, and was only separated by 3.3 seconds from eighth overall in a field of 280 participants. This is the first year that Cordani has ever competed as a cross country runner as she becomes the 22nd All-American in school history.

Ibarra clocked a time of 22:22.70 at the meet, besting her previous best by 34 seconds on this course. She was in a pack of 11 runners – 94th to 104th – that were separated by just 3.2 seconds as they crossed the finish line.

Visca's time of 22:28.6 was the second fastest of her short career. At the 1K mark, Visca had recorded a time of 3:32. She managed to keep a pace of just over six minutes for the meet. The Pittsford, N.Y. native was a two-time Empire 8 Conference runner of the week selection during her rookie year, and became the second female in program history to qualify for the national meet.
