The Indoor Track and Field Championship is in the books as the swimming and diving championship is nearing with basketball following not too far behind. Those earning weekly honors for the week of Feb. 8-14, 2016 include....

Men's Basketball Player - Ithaca
Marc Chasin, Sophomore, Guard – Coral Gables, FL/Gulliver

 
Marc Chasin scored 84 total points last week as the Ithaca College men's basketball team went 2-1 in conference play with wins against Houghton and Alfred. Chasin averaged 28 points and five rebounds for the Bombers during their three-game stretch while shooting .531 from the field and .923 from the free throw line. Chasin began the week with a 28-point effort against Stevens before finishing with a game-high 35 points against Houghton and 21 points in as win over Alfred on Saturday.
 
Men's Basketball Rookie - Nazareth
Tyler Stenglein, Sophomore, Guard – Rochester, NY/Irondequoit

 
Tyler Stenglein led the team averaging 19 points and four assists in a 2-1 week for Nazareth. He shot 20-of-37 (.541) on the week. Poured in a game-high 24 points (10-of-17) and dished out three assists in an 86-77 loss to Hartwick. Finished with 19 points (5-of-11) to go along with six assists and one steal in an 87-65 victory over Alfred. Closed out the week with a team-high 14 points (5-of-9), with five rebounds and three assists vs Elmira.
 
Women's Basketball Player - Nazareth
Lindsey Kelly, Senior, Center – Doyletown, PA/Central Bucks East

 
Lindsey Kelly averaged a double-double with 22.3 points and 11.0 rebounds in a 3-0 week for Nazareth. She finished the week 30-of-45 from the field (.667). Notched 16 points (9-of-13) with 15 rebounds in an 82-81 win over Hartwick. Notched 12 points (5-of-6) with four boards in just 13 minutes in a win over Alfred. Closed out the week with a career-high 39 points (17-of-27) and grabbed 14 rebounds in a win over Elmira.
 
Women's Basketball Rookie - Elmira
Lindsey Heaton, Freshman, Guard – New Milford, CT/New Milford

 
Lindsey Heaton had another good weekend for the Soaring Eagles, averaging 12.0 points, 4.7 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in a 1-2 week for Elmira. She logged a career-high eight assists in a six-point win against Houghton. Heaton then scored double-digits in back-to-back games against St. John Fisher and Nazareth, scoring 15 and 12, respectively.
 
Men’s Indoor Track Athlete –  Utica
Nicodemus Gambill, Junior – Rochester, NY/East Hight
 
Nicodemus Gambill earned the Male Track Athlete of the meet honors on Saturday after winning and breaking the meet record in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Gambill's 60-meter dash time of 6.91 is good enough to be tied for eighth in the nation while his 200-meter dash time of 22.22 is good enough for eighth in the nation as well.
 
Men’s Indoor Field Athlete –  St. John Fisher
Mark VanMarter, Sophomore – Liverpool, NY/Liverpool
 
Mark VanMarter was selected as the field athlete of the meet in the Empire 8 Championships this weekend for the second year in a row, along with winning his event in the long jump at 6.85 meters. He took second in the high jump with a jump of 1.98 meters, scoring a total of 18 points for his team.
 
Women’s Indoor Track Athlete –  Ithaca
Eliza Dewart, Senior – Barker, NY/Barker
 
Eliza Dewart won the 200- and 400-meter dashes to be named Track Athlete of the Meet at the E8 Championship. Dewart clocked a time of 26.23 seconds in the 200 and 59.46 seconds in the 400.
 
Women’s Indoor Field Athlete –  Ithaca
Brandy Smith, Junior – Miami, FL/Ransom Everglades
 
Junior Brandy Smith placed first in the shot put and weight throw to earn Field Athlete of the Meet honors at the E8 Championship. Smith broke the facility record, conference record and set a new school record with a heave of 18.28 meters in the weight throw. Smith's mark is currently the second-best throw in the nation and is an improvement of .45 meters of her previous top performance. In the shot put, she measured out 12.79 meters.
