ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca College sophomore Jordan Schemm finished the 2015 season as the national leader among NCAA Division III student-athletes in kickoff return average.

Schemm, who was named second-team All-Empire 8, averaged 37.6 yards on 11 kickoff returns, finishing with an average of 4.5 yards more per kickoff return than the national Division III runner-up, Marshall Howell (John Carroll). He totaled 414 kickoff return yards on the season for Ithaca.

Schemm saw action in nine of the Bombers' (4-6) games this season and surpassed 100 or more kickoff return yards in a game three times.

During the Bombers road game against Hartwick College (Oct. 10), Schemm returned a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown, his first career touchdown. He finished with 119 kickoff return yards on the day as Ithaca earned a 47-19 victory.

Schemm, who was named Ithaca's Honorary Special Teams captain, also recorded a season-high 125 kickoff return yards in a win over Alfred (Sept. 26), and added 107 kickoff return yards in a win over Union (Sept. 5).

Only Zacari Lavender from Division II Oklahoma Panhandle, who averaged 42.3 yards per return, and Evan Berry from Division I Tennessee, who averaged 38.3 yards per return, enjoyed a higher average on kickoff returns at any level during the 2015 season than Schemm.
