ECAC Weekly Honors for Chasin and Smith
Ithaca College’s Marc Chasin and Brandy Smith have been honored as the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Athletes of the Week in the Upstate region for their performances during the week of Feb. 8-14, 2016.
Men’s Basketball – Upstate
Player of the Week
Marc Chasin – Ithaca College, So., Guard, Coral Gables, Fla.
Chasin scored 84 total points last week as Ithaca went 2-1 in conference play with wins against Houghton and Alfred. Chasin averaged 28 points and five rebounds for the Bombers during their three-game stretch while shooting .531 from the field and .923 from the free throw line. Chasin began the week with a 28-point effort against Stevens before finishing with a game-high 35 points against Houghton and 21 points in as win over Alfred on Saturday.
Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Upstate
Athlete of the Week
Brandy Smith – Ithaca College, Jr., Miami, Fla.
Smith placed first in the shot put and weight throw to earn Field Athlete of the Meet honors at the E8 Championship. Smith broke the facility record, conference record and set a new school record with a heave of 18.28 meters in the weight throw. Smith's mark is currently the second-best throw in the nation and is an improvement of .45 meters of her previous top performance. In the shot put, she measured out 12.79 meters.
