Yano Named D3Baseball.com Preseason All-American

Senior Jayson Yano of the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team was selected as a First Team preseason All-American by d3baseball.com.

Yano was the only Empire 8 Conference player selected to any of the three teams, and joined Ramapo College second baseman Joe Venturino as the only players from New Jersey colleges chosen.

The Foothill Ranch, Calif. native became the first player in E8 history to win both conference Pitcher of the Year and conference Player of the Year last spring. Yano collected a plethora of awards last season, as he was the d3baseball.com New York Region Player of the Year in addition to being named Second Team All-American by the same site.

Yano also claimed ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-Region honors and was also named First Team All-New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association. On the mound, he went 6-3 with a 2.09 earned run average and 61 strikeouts. At the plate, Yano batted .344 with 52 hits and 37 runs batted in, and swiped 27 bags.

The Ducks open 2016 on February 19, taking on No. 6 Kean University at 3 p.m.
