E8 Spotlight: Katie Wilbur
The Empire 8 Conference is full of talented student-athletes and the E8 Spotlight is one way for fans to get to know them.
Katie Wilbur (Rochester, NY/Greece Odyssey) and is a junior for the St. John Fisher College women’s track and field team.
Why did you choose to attend St. John Fisher College? I initially came to SJFC for the pharmacy program but after a tour and recruit visit it felt like home.
What has been the greatest part of your experience as a college athlete? The friendships I have made with my teammates and other competitors as well as the traveling I have been able to do.
Who has been the most influential person during your athletic career? My high school soccer coach who pushed me farther than any coach had and it really tested my limits.
Where do you see yourself in five years? Hopefully either finishing up medical school and starting my residency or working on my MDPHD in cancer immunology.
What do you like most about competing in the Empire 8? I like the competitiveness of the conference and championship meet. And I like the tightknit community among the competitors and the fact that we know each other well outside the competitive arena.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I study for my MCATs.
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
I want to see a world cup game live, travel to Australia, sky dive and pay off my student loans.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
People think that my younger sister and I look like identical twins.
