Six Divers to Compete in NCAA Regionals

CORTLAND, N.Y. –
Fresh off strong finishes in the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association Championships, six Empire 8 divers will to return to action this weekend when they look to punch their ticket to Greensboro, N.C. in the NCAA Division III Region Four Diving Championships hosted by SUNY Cortland.

Ithaca's Scott Hillen and Alfred's Chris Deaver will compete against 14 other divers for one of six available spots to compete in the NCAA Division III Championships which will take place in Greensboro, N.C. March 16-19.

Hillen placed second overall in the 3-meter at the UNYSCSA Championships with 510.05 total points, while Deaver was second on the 1-meter board with 470.50 points

Four members of the Ithaca's women's team will participate including state champion Anna Belson who won the 3-meter dive at the UNYSCSA Championships and was subsequently named Diver of the Meet last Saturday.  Lindsey Suddaby, Alyssa Wishart and Katie Helly will also look to represent the Bombers in the national championships.  Overall, seven of the 26 divers competing will earn a trip to Greensboro.

National qualifiers will be determined by alternating between the Day 1 highest finisher and the Day 2 highest finisher, with divers already invited being skipped if they come up again. Divers who advance to nationals will be permitted to compete on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards, regardless of which board(s) they qualify on at regionals.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Friday, February 26
2 p.m. – women's 1-meter dive
5:30 p.m. – men's 3-meter dive
Saturday, February 27
12 p.m. – women's 3-meter dive
3:30 p.m. – men's 1-meter dive
All sessions will be an 11-dive format.
