No. 25 Stevens Wins Twice At Season-Opening Invitational
FREDERICKSBURG, Va . (February 21, 2016) - The No. 25 Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team topped No. 22 North Carolina Wesleyan College 8-1 and Washington College 6-3, but fell to No. 16 University of Mary Washington over the weekend at the Mary Washington Invitational.
The two-day event took place on the campus of Mary Washington.

The Ducks stormed out to the big advantage thanks to a 3-0 sweep at doubles. Seniors
Matthew Heinrich and
Ben Foran teamed-up for the 8-4 win at first doubles over the No. 9 ranked doubles team in the Atlantic South region, while freshman
Kyle Cenderelli and sophomore
Kyle Henry pulled-out a hard fought 8-6 victory at No. 2.

Charles Drake mirrored the win at second doubles with an 8-6 win of their own at No. 3.
Heinrich dropped the second set at first singles over regionally ranked Ioannis Brokakis, but recovered with a 6-2 win in the third to take the match 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Drake recovered from a first set loss to take the final two, including a tie-breaker win in the second, to take the win, while Foran won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4.
Junior
Michael Feldman won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 in his first action of the spring, and Cenderelli picked-up his first collegiate singles win with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 5.
N.C. Wesleyan's No. 7 regionally-ranked Sebastian Sikh took the win at No. 2 in Stevens' only loss of the match.

Mary Washington captured wins at second and third doubles, but the Ducks got the win at No. 1 with Heinrich/Foran's 8-5 win over regionally-ranked Stratton Gilmore and Brandon Griffin.
Heinrich won for the third time overall with a 6-4, 7-6 win at first singles over No. 42 Gilmore, while Foran overcame a first set loss to get the win at No. 4, 4-6, 7-5, 10-5.
That's all the winning the Ducks would get however as Mary Washington pulled-off straight-set wins at second, third, fifth, and sixth to seal the match.

Polk and Henry won 9-7 in their season debut together at first doubles as the Ducks swept doubles with Foran and junior
Antonio Perich's 8-2 win at No. 2, and Cenderelli and Drake's 8-4 win at No. 3.
Drake continued his winning with a straight-set, 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2, while sophomore
William Persson made his season debut with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4.
Freshman Divian Sarthak captured the 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 5 in his first collegiate singles win to round-out the Stevens scoring for the match.
