Hawks Draw Babson in Opening Round of NCAA Tournament

Hartwick learned where it is headed and its opponent Monday afternoon with the release of the 2016 Division III Tournament field. The Hawks will play Babson College (21-5) on Friday, March 4 at host Susquehanna University's Orlando W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove, PA. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m.

Susqhenanna (23-4) will play SUNY Old Westbury (19-8) in the other first round game at 7:30 p.m. The winners will meet on Saturday at 7 p.m. to determine who will progress to the Sectionals.
           
Hartwick will be making its nineteenth trip to the NCAA Tournament in program history. The Hawks earned an automatic berth Saturday after defeating St. John Fisher 93-91 in the Empire 8 Championship game.
           
Babson is ranked 20th in the country and won the NEWMAC title on Sunday with an 81-69 victory over WPI to earn its spot in the field. The Beavers are making their third straight tournament appearance and advanced to the national semifinals last season.
           
Susquehanna is ranked 16th in the latest national poll. The Crusaders won their first 15 games of the season and finished with a 23-4 overall mark. They were defeated by Catholic in the Landmark Conference championship on Saturday but grabbed a Pool C bid. The Crusaders are making their first NCAA appearance since 1994.  
           
SUNY Old Westbury won the Skyline Conference with a win over St. Joseph's. The Panthers are 19-8 this season and appearing in the NCAA's for the first time since 2004.
           
The cost of admission for all games will be $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens Children under two will be admitted free of charge.
