2015-16 Men’s Basketball All-Tournament Team
Following the Empire 8 Men’s Basketball Tournament and the naming of the Most Valuable Player, the entire 2015-16 All-tournament team has been announced.
Hartwick – Jake Sinicki (MVP), Joey Lufkin
St. John Fisher – Tyler Hart
Nazareth – Maurice Mills
Stevens – Evan Klimchak
Sinick was named the tournament MVP as he averaged 20 points, nine rebounds and 3.5 blocks. He shot 60.9 percent from the field and a perfect 8-of-8 from the foul line. In the semifinal game Sinicki scored 14 points, had a team-high 14 rebounds and had a game-high five blocks. In the championship game, he had 21 first half points for the Hawks, connecting on 8-of-9 shots. He finished with a team-high 26 points as he shot 9-of-14 in the game with four rebounds, a trio of three-pointers, two assists, and two blocks.
Lufkin averaged 22 points and 5.5 assists during the tournament. He shot 60.9 percent from the field (14-of-23) and 92.3 percent from the foul line (12-of-13). Lufkin had a game high 20 points against Nazareth and finished with a double-double of 24 points and 10 assists against Fisher in the title game.
Hart averaged 23 points, four rebounds and four assists throughout the tournament. He shot 16-of-28 from the field (57.1%) and 7-of-12 (58.3%) from the arc. Hart finished with 11 points and five assists against Stevens and scored a career-high 35 points against Hartwick.
Mills was Nazareth's leading scorer in the semifinal game as he finished with 20 points (9-for-13), while grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds. Mills, who moved into first all-time in blocked shots at Nazareth earlier in the season, added five more to his career total. In 2015-16 Mills is averaging 2.7 blocks per game which is tops in the conference.
Klimchak led the Ducks with 18 points to go along with four steals and three rebounds. He was one of three Stevens’ players to finish in double-digits as the Ducks fell to the Cardinals in the semifinals.
