Utica Breaks Records on the Final Day of the NYSCTC Championships

ITHACA, NY – The Utica men's track and field team completed the second and final day of the NYSCTC Championships hosted by Ithaca College. The men's team tied for sixth out of 14 teams with 66 points. 
 
The men's 4x800 meter relay consisting of Patrick Claffey, Nicholas Ashton, Tyler Wright and Erik Gleba took fourth place, qualified for the ECAC Championships, and broke the school record with a time of 8:02.22. The men's 4x400 meter relay consisting of Kyle Carr, Shane Ruffing, Rah'mire Logan and Kevin Gangemi also broke a school record with a time of 3:26.34 while taking fourth place.

Nicodemus Gambill placed first in both the 60 meter dash (6.92) and the 200 meter dash (22.17). Ruffing placed fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.54 while Eric Gleba placed fifth in the 500 meter run (1:07.19). In the 1,000 meter run Tyler Sutton while Erik Winberg finished right behind him at seventh (2:37.10).
 
In the field Ruffing grabbed fifth place in the triple jump (13.29) while Kyle Swiecki placed 10th overall in the Heptathlon.
