2015-16 Women’s Basketball All-Tournament Team
Following the Empire 8 Women’s Basketball Tournament and the naming of the Most Valuable Player, the entire 2015-16 All-tournament team has been announced.
Stevens – Megan Brown (MVP), Erica Guketlov
Ithaca – Keri Steele
St. John Fisher – Mary Kate Cusack
Nazareth – Lindsey Kelly
Brown was named the tournament MVP as came off the bench to average 15 points and nine rebounds. She shot 64.7 percent from the field on 11-of-17. In the semifinal game Brown scored a team-high 19 points and had seven rebounds. In the title game, she finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, marking her eighth double-double of the season.
Guketlov averaged 11 points and 4.5 assists during the tournament. She chipped in with nine points, five rebounds and five assists against Nazareth in the semifinal and finished with 13 points and four assists in the championship game.
Steele averaged 11.5 points and five assists over the two tournament games. She shot 57.1 percent on 8-of-14 from the floor. Steele finished with 13 points against Fisher and scored 10 points while grabbing seven rounds against Stevens.
Cusack was Fisher’s leading scorer in the semifinal game as she finished with 19 points, while grabbing five rebounds. She also added two assists and two steals.
Lindsey Kelly scored 18 of her 20 points in the first half, including draining two 3-pointers in the second quarter. She also had 11 rebounds in the game for her 15
th double-double of the season. She shot 61.5 percent from the field (8-of-13) to make her season shooting percentage 64.7 which currently ranks fifth in Division III.
