ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Mitch Ford of the Nazareth College men's basketball team has been named to the 2015-16 College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America Team after excelling on the court and in the classroom. Ford, who was a First Team All-District selection, was advanced to the COSIDA Academic All-America ballot, where he picked up third team honors.

In order to be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average while serving as a starter or impact contributor off the bench for their respective team.

Ford put together a stellar senior season, earning Empire 8 Player of the Year and first team honors, after leading the conference in points (22.2) and rebounds (11.3).   His scoring average ranked 24th nationally, while his rebounds ranks 11th.  The Victor, NY native racked up 17 double-doubles in 26 games, putting him fifth in the country in that category.  Ford managed to score in double digits in each game during the year, shooting an impressive 53.8 percent from the floor.  His 22.2 scoring average is the second-best single season average in program history, while his 293 rebound ranks first all-time at Nazareth.

For his career Ford poured in 1,510 points good for seventh all-time, while also grabbing 764 rebounds, the third-best mark at Nazareth.

A Business Administration major, Ford earned his undergraduate degree from Nazareth in December with a 3.36 GPA.
