Naz and Ithaca stand strong in USILA Poll
Nationally-ranked No. 15 Nazareth College and No. 18 Ithaca College held their ground in this week's edition of the
USILA Division III Men's Lacrosse Coaches Poll.
Nazareth won for the second straight Saturday as the Golden Flyers overcame at early deficit to take a 12-10 victory over Springfield. Seniors Troy Haefele and Luke Wooters provided most of the damage Saturday by combining for six goals and seven assists.
Nazareth is home again Friday, March 4 against Cortland in non-league action at 4 p.m.
Ithaca won its season opener against Marywood (Pa.) University, 16-4. John Januszkiewicz finished with a career-high seven goals.
The Bombers return home to host Lycoming (Pa.) College at 4 p.m. today March 1 at Higgins Stadium in the 2016 home opener.
Stevens Institute of Technology is among teams also receiving votes following its 16-15 overtime win against previously ranked Endicott. Senior Andrew Scrutchfield scored the game-winning goal with 38 seconds left in overtime to improve the Ducks to 2-0 on the season.
Stevens will be back on the road Wednesday, March 2, taking on FDU-Florham.
