NCAA Swimming & Diving Qualifiers Announced

Twelve athletes from around the Empire 8 Conference will compete at the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships. Ten swimmers and two divers from the E8 will participate at the event which takes place from March 16-19 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC.
 
NCAA.com will video stream all sessions of the championships.

Student-athletes qualified for the swimming portion of the championships by meeting the established minimum time for the events in which they entered. Divers were determined by performances achieved at the Regional Diving meets.

Stevens Institute of Technology will send a total of nine athletes to the championships, while Ithaca will send two and Hartwick will have one representative.
 
Ithaca sophomore divers Anna Belson Katie Helly qualified for the championships at the Diving Regional this past weekend. Belson is making her second consecutive trip with Helly competing for the first time.
 
Stevens junior Danielle Caruso and sophomore Sarah Jurczyk make their second appearances. Caruso competes in the 200 free and 500 free while Jurczyk swims in the 100 and 200 butterfly events and the 200 IM. Caruso is seeded 24th in the 200 free (1:52.50) and 29th in the 500 free (5:00.24). Jurczyk is ranked 12th in the 100 fly (55.55) and 17th in the 200 fly (2:04.92).
 
Stevens will also be sending freshman Courtney Jones and senior Jennifer Rutledge to swim relay events with Caruso and Jurczyk. The 400 freestyle relay is ranked 14th with a time of 3:28.32.
 
On the men’s side, Hartwick senior Matt Plunkett will be making his first national appearance. He is seeded fifth in the 200 backstroke with a  time of 1:47.76, less than a second behind the top time of 1:47.02. Plunkett will also swim in the 200 free and 100 backstroke.

Making the trip this year for the Ducks will be senior Joshua Lefeber, senior Ravi Sun, senior Tomasz Wolinski, junior Austen Young  and sophomore Connor Harrigan.
 
Sun will compete at the NCAA's for the third time. He will participate in the 100 and 200 backstroke events where he is ranked second (48.97) and 11th (1:48.19), respectively. He will also swim in the 200 individual medley with a seed time of 1:50.87 (15th).
 
Lefeber is making his second trip to the NCAA meet and is seeded 22nd in the 200 individual medley (1:51.37) and 24th in the 200 breaststroke (56.56).
 
Young and Harrigan will be going to the national meet for the first time. Young is ranked 31 in the 100 butterfly (49.47).
 
Harrigan is seeded 14 in the 1650 freestyle (15.48.97) and will also compete in the 500 free and 200 free.
 
The Ducks will swim all five relays, seeded No. 11 in the 200-medley, No. 20 in the 200-free, No. 12 in the 400-medley, 18th in the 800-freestyle, 18th in the 400-freestyle.
