In addition to those teams competing down south and out west during their spring break, the weather in the northeast continued to cooperate allowing teams to continue with their schedules as planned. Those earning weekly honors for the week of March 7-13, 2016 include...

Men’s Lacrosse Player –  Alfred
Jake Lynch, Sophomore, Attack – Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point
 
Jake Lynch was crucial in the Saxons 2-1 spring break training week. He had back-to-back-to-back games with four goals and at least one assist. He totaled 12 goals and six assists on the week with a stellar, four-goal and three-assist performance against Hilbert College in the spring break finale. Lynch also played a big role in the Saxons' win over Merchant Marine Academy with his four goals off of eight shots (seven on goal) and added two assists in the 15-6 win. Lynch had four goals and one assist against Emmanuel College in an upsetting, 10-13 loss.
 
Men’s Lacrosse Goalie –  Nazareth
Scott Brown, Senior – Naperville, IL/Waubonsie Valley
 
Scott Brown earned the win for Nazareth in 37:14 of play allowing just three goals as Nazareth defeated Clarkson 17-7. He made six saves in the win.
 
Women’s Lacrosse Player –  Houghton
Chandler Jones, Junior, A/M – Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford
 
Junior Chandler Jones scored four goals with 11 assists to lead the Highlanders to a 1-1 week. Jones started the week with two goals and 10 assists in the win over Wells on Tuesday. Jones' 10 assists is the highest single game total in NCAA Division III this season. She added two goals and one assist in the overtime loss to Wilkes on Friday.
 
Women’s Lacrosse Goalie –  St. John Fisher
Hayley Peets, Junior – Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Sutherland
 
Hayley Peets started in goal for Fisher in both victories this past week against Buffalo State and Geneseo. She tallied eight saves for 17 shots faced over the two games, and grabbed four ground balls. The victory over Geneseo is the first win for Fisher over Geneseo in four years.
 
Baseball Player –  Elmira
Dennis Rudolph, Sophomore, P/OF – Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West
 
Dennis Rudolph went 8-for-11 in three games over the weekend. In the two-game set against Eastern University on Saturday, Rudolph batted a combined 3-for-5 with one walk, one run and one RBI. He then set program records for hits and RBIs in a single game against Valley Forge, as he finished 5-for-6 with five RBIs and three runs.
 
Baseball Pitcher –  Stevens
Robert Robbins, Senior – Tallahassee, FL/Leon
 
Robert Robbins picked up a pair of wins in two starts this week. Against Rutgers-Newark, Robbins went five innings allowing two hits while striking out seven while, allowing no runs. In game 2 against MIT, Robbins went the distance allowing two runs on six hits. Robbins fanned a career-high 13 hitters.
 
Softball Player –  Alfred
Sophia Chiavatti, Junior, 1B/P – Tustin, CA/Foothill
 
Sophia Chiavatti averaged a .444 at the plate, going 12-of-27 during the Saxons' season-opening spring break trip. Out of her 12 hits, one was a double and one was a triple as she recorded nine RBI and crossed home plate four times as well. She totaled 15 bases for a slugging percentage of .556 and she was only struck out once during her nine games and nine starts. Her single game highlight came against Saint Mary's where she went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run as well as a sacrificed fly. Defensively, Chiavatti was perfect in the field, recording a percentage of 1.000 with her 46 putouts and five assists with no errors. On the mound, Chiavatti was 1-0 in her one appearance, pitching a shutout over Pitt-Greensburg. She pitched seven full innings and gave up seven hits while also sitting seven batters in the Saxons' 8-0 win.
 
Softball Pitcher –  Nazareth
Rachel Mertens, Junior – Syracuse, NY/Henninger
 
Rachel Mertens pitched 34.2 innings and went 3-2 in Nazareth's Spring Break trip to Fort Myers, FL. She allowed just nine earned runs in five games and struck out 24 batters to finish the week with a 1.82 ERA.  
 
Men’s Tennis Player–  Alfred
Connor Doud, Senior – Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa
 
Senior Connor Doud had a solid week for Alfred, going 5-1 in his six matchups. Doud was 3-0 at No. 1 singles and added a 2-1 record at No. 1 doubles alongside Matt Baloga. The duo topped Wittenberg University's 8-5 before Doud soloed a win in singles 6-1, 6-2. Next, they defeated University of Northwestern (MN) also by a score of 8-5 before Doud bested the one-on-one matchup with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Doud picked up his final singles win against Roger Williams in a close match, 5-7, 7-5, 10-6 to round out his spring trip.
