Five Empire 8 men's basketball players have been selected to the d3hoops.com All-East Region Team.
Nazareth senior Mitch Ford, a First Team selection, put together a stellar season. Ford earned Empire 8 Player of the Year honors, after leading the conference in points (22.2) and rebounds (11.3). His scoring average ranked 24
th nationally, while his rebounds ranks 11
th. He racked up 17 double-doubles in 26 games, putting him fifth in the country in that category. Ford managed to score in double digits in each game during the year, shooting an impressive 53.8 percent from the floor. His 22.2 scoring average is the second-best single season average in program history, while his 293 rebound ranks first all-time at Nazareth.
Fisher junior Keegan Ryan, a Second Team selection, is making his second consecutive appearance on an All-East Region Team as he was a First Team selection last season. The junior led the team in scoring (17.4 ppg), rebounding (9.7 rpg), and field goal percentage (59.4%). The Empire 8 All-Conference First Team selection tallied 14 double-doubles this season and now has 30 such games in his career. He currently ranks third at Fisher in career rebounding with 739 boards and seventh in career scoring with 1,220 points.
Fisher senior Tyler Hart, Hartwick senior Trevor Norton and Ithaca sophomore Marc Chasin were selected to the D3hoops.com All-East Region Third Team
Hart finished the season second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.1 points per game after seeing action through 21 contests this season. Also named to the Empire 8 All-Conference First Team, the senior led the team in assists (4.7 apg) and finished second on the team in steals (1.2 spg). He also shot 40.5% from 3-point range, making 2.2 per game, in addition to shooting a team-best 90.3% from the free-throw line. For his career, Hart has played in 94 games and tallied 908 points. He ranks seventh at Fisher in career 3-pointers with 135 and finishes his career with the best career free throw percentage (199-for-225 – 88.4%) in Fisher history.
Norton, who was named to the Empire 8 First Team for the second straight season, led the Hawks in scoring (19.5 ppg), minutes played (32.2), field goals made (161), three-pointers made (81), three-point field goal percentage (.407), free throws made (103), and free-throw percentage (.851). He ranked first in the Empire 8 and twenty-third in the country in three-point field goals per game this season. He was also tops in the league and twenty-third nationally in three-pointers made. He was third in the E8 in free throws made, free-throw percentage, and total points (506).
Chasin led the Bombers and ranked second in the conference in scoring at 20.8 points per game. His .486 field goal percentage was tops on the team and ninth-best among all conference players as well. Chasin started all 28 games at guard for the Bombers and eclipsed the 25-point plateau ten times overall. He posted five double-doubles during his sophomore campaign and accounted for 6.5 rebounds per game along with 2.7 assists.
