Pine Valley, NY -- The Elmira College men's tennis team got back in the win column on Saturday afternoon, making quick work of Keuka College with a 9-0 sweep over the Wolfpack. It was a historic day for one senior member of the squad, as Satchal Waters '16 became the program's all-time win leader with dominant performances in both singles and doubles action.

The Soaring Eagles entered play on Saturday looking to put behind them a heartbreaking loss to Oswego State exactly one week ago. Elmira's razor sharp focus was evident right from the beginning, as EC jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage in doubles action.

Waters and Patrick Tracey '18 combined for a comfortable 8-2 win at first flight doubles. The middle pairing of Austin Mansell '16 and Chris Konow '18 continued to be absolutely dominant, sweeping the second matchup 8-0. Yu Ikeda '16 and Yaniv Kogan '18 rounded out the action with an 8-1 win in the third flight.

With the win in first doubles, Waters tied former EC netter Gabe Cortes '11 with 57 career victories. It took him little more than an hour to forge ahead in the Elmira record book. He scored dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory in second flight singles to notch his record breaking 58th career triumph.

While the win was huge on a personal level, it was little more than a formality when it came to the match, as EC had already locked up the match with more impressive play across the lineup. Mansell swept his third flight matchup in straight sets 6-0, 6-0, while Tracey sealed the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win in the fourth singles matchup.

Ikeda won 6-2, 6-1 in first singles, while both Konow and Kogan swept their respective fifth and sixth singles matchups by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

In His Own Words…
Head Coach Tom Linhart on Waters' record breaking wins…
"Satchal epitomizes what our program is about when it comes to the team over the individual. He has really stepped up the past couple of seasons and is the heart of our team. I'm really proud of him setting this record. It has been an honor to coach him and I am excited to see him extend the record with an entire month of play remaining."
